At it's core, the DPD Total Chlorine reagent is not really a specific to Chlorine, because DPD chemistry can be oxidized by compounds other than Chlorine. It's really a Total Oxidant test that expresses results in units of mg/L Cl2. Therefore, it is possible to utilize the Chlorine DPD curve to approximate the concentration of many other oxidants with a simple chemical form conversion factor to adjust for molecular weight. Multiply the measured concentration as Chlorine by the conversion factor provided below to convert the result to units of mg/L of the oxidant of choice.

Chlorine to Ozone - multiply by .68
Chlorine to Iodine - multiply by 3.58
Chlorine to Bromine - multiply by 2.25
Chlorine to KMnO4 - multiply by 2.23

For more accurate results utilize the  Hach Water Analysis Handbook for methods that are specific to ozone, iodine, bromine, and potassium permangante.

This does not work for all Oxidants. For some Oxidants have a different Stoichiometry. These include Peracetic Acid, Peroxides, and Chlorine Dioxide. These tests can be performed using DPD chemistry, but these procedures would need to be followed.
