Yes, this is possible to use modbus for remote activation of different sample channels on the 5500sc Silica/Phosphate.  The register map for the instrument can be downloaded by following this link:  I need modbus registers for my Hach instrumentation, where can I get them?

Using the Read/Write integer in register 40081 shown below, it is possible to activate/deactivate each sample channel using modbus. 


Step 1:  Binary String Calculation


Step 2:  Converting the Binary data string to Decimal


Open the calculator on your PC, then click on VIEW and choose the Programmer option (Alt + 3) as shown and then choose the Bin option as shown:

Type in the Binary number (without leading zeros), then select Dec to determine the Decimal equivalent that will need to be written to register 40081 as shown:


Step 3:  Write the Binary number in register 40081
