In the COD procedure (method 8000), there is conflicting information regarding the blank preparation. On page 3, it calls for 2mL of DI water. On page 4, in "Blanks for Colorimetric Determination" it calls for 5mL of DI water. Which one is correct?

The COD procedure does use 2mL of DI water to create the reagent blank, and that vial is the one that should be stored in the dark and re-used. The 5mL in step 2 (page 4) is added to an empty vial and is used to set the instrument zero (step 3) before measuring and recording the absorbance of the reagent blank vial discussed above (step 4). It just provides a reproductible reference point for monitoring changes to the absorbance of the blank.
