What causes the CDC401 to read 'Temperature out of range' on samples that are within the acceptable temperature range of the probe?
Zusammenfassung
Sample is within temperature range of the CDC401 but getting an "Out of Range" message
Antwort
Though the probe can read a wide temperature range, there may be other limitations based on the parameter that is being measured (EC, TDS, resistivity, or salinity), and the temperature correction factor being used (NaCl, none, linear, Practical Salinity Scale).

EC/TDS/Resistivity:
  • If you are using the NaCl temp correction, you will see "Temperature Out of Range" when the temp gets below 0 C. Temp correction data for the non-linear NaCl curve in the meter only goes down to 0 C. You will also get this error message if the temperature is over 110 C.
  • If the temperature correction is off, or set to non-linear, you will see the error message if you are outside of the reported range of the electrode (-10-110 C)

Salinity:
  • Salinity results are calculated using the Practical Salinity Scale. The scale has a temp range of -2 C to 35 C. If you are outside of this range in salinity mode, you will get the "temperature out of range" error.
