Zusammenfassung

Temperature compensation on a pH probe

Antwort

Temperature compensation on a pH electrode has to do with calibration. The slope of the pH calibration curve is temperature dependent. Because of this, all pH buffers need to be at the same temperature before calibration. However, if the buffers are not at the same temperature, temperature compensation corrects for this and allows for accurate calibration. The reason for this, is that the relationship between temperature and pH is understood for Hach pH buffers. The same cannot be said for sample matrices. As a result, temperature compensation only affects calibration and not pH measurement. When the pH of a sample is measured, the pH is displayed at the sample temperature.
