There are two types of conductivity sensors and transmitters - contacting conductivity and inductive/toroidal (or "electrodeless", or "non-contacting") conductivity sensors.  Contacting conductivity sensors are typically used in sample media that will not adhere to the electrodes, and often in lower conductivity ranges.  Conversely, the inductive conductivity sensors are completely encased in a plastic coating (available in Polypropylene, PVDF, PEEK, or PFA Teflon) are typically used in applications where the sample media contains oils/fats/greases or materials that would normally adhere to the electrodes of a contacting conductivity sensor and these applications typically have a much higher measuring range.

The only instrument that Hach offers to measure Contacting Conductivity in a C1D1 environment would be the si792x C
