It is possible that the valve will need service.  The internal rotor needs to be replaced from time to time.  If the valve is clogged, the user may be able to resolve the issue by back flushing the valve.

To verify the problem is at the valve the operator can disconnect before and after the valve.
  • If the flow is good when disconnecting before the valve, and the flow is not good when disconnecting after the valve, it confirms the issue is at the valve.
    • For the sample line this means disconnecting at port 6 to check before the valve and disconnecting from port 5 to check the flow after the valve.
    • For the carrier line this means disconnecting at port 2 to check before the valve and disconnecting from port 3 to check the flow after the valve.
  • If checking the flow does not confirm the issue is at the valve, further troubleshooting needs to be performed to determine where the issue lies.

Depending on the type of valve, one of the procedures below can be considered if the issue is verified to be at the valve.

Does Lachat have a procedure for backflushing six port injection valves?
Does Lachat have a procedure for backflushing internal sample loop (ISL) valves?
