If replacing the membrane and electrolyte does not help it may be necessary to replace the electrode, but if the electrode is less than 12 months old this may not be the root of the issue.

1) Remove the electrode from the electrode body as described below:

2) Place the electrode in a small beaker of pH 7 calibration buffer.

3) Reconnect the electrode cable to the analyzer panel.

4) Go to Sensor Setup Menu > Amtax sc  (if more than one sensor is connected) > Maint > Test/Maint > Signals.

5) Collect approximately 5 measurements (the actual mV value may change a little bit between each measurement).

6) Rinse the electrode in DI water and then place it in a small beaker of pH 4 calibration buffer.

7) Collect approximately 5 measurements and compare them to the measured values from the pH 7 buffer.   The mV readings will not be like the pHD sensor, but here are some actual values from a working electrode:

pH 4 buffer                   pH 7 buffer
1) - 31.13 mV              1) - 212.86 mV
2) - 32.81 mV              2) - 225.98 mV
3) - 34.48 mV              3) - 228.58 mV
4) - 35.25 mV              4) - 231.02 mV
5) - 36.32 mV              5) - 233.61 mV

The main thing to be looking for is a reasonable mV span in the different solutions. This proves that the electrode is working and you can focus your troubleshooting efforts on other parts of the instrument like clogging of tubing or solution pathways, valves, reagent pumps, or possibly reagents (make sure the correct standards are being used for the range selected).

8) Rinse the electrode in DI water and then reinstall it in the electrode body as described below:
